Denia, Costa Blanca

Denia lies about halfway between Alicante and Valencia on the Costa Blanca. It is an ancient town with a Roman history. Today, with a population of around 36,000 it is an important harbour town not only for fishing but also ferry connections to Mallorca, Ibiza and beyond.

One of the highlights of Denia is the castillo (castle) Denia Castle was built in the 11th/12th centuries and offers some fantastic views. There is also a museum within the castle to entertain todays visitors.

Denia also offers good shopping along the Cale de Marques de Campo and there are many bars and little restaurants. Cakes and local confectionary are especially good, and Denia is famous for them.

There are boat trips available from Denia to Javea, Altea and Benidorm as well as a narrow guage railway system that serves the town.
