The Montgo national park is an isolated rocky ridge on the coast between Denia and Javea (Xabia) it is said to be like to a sleeping elephant. With the exception of the Sierra Bernia, it is probably the most popular mountain on the Costa Blanca. The summit is 753 meters high providing excellent views, not only of the coast, but also to the inland.
The Montgó, which shelters Xàbia, is the the highest summit of the region. From the Xàbia side, it is said to resemble an elephant. It was declared the Natural Park of Montgo in 1987, and it stretches across the area of La Plana to the Cape of Saint Antoni. It covers approximately 21.5 km² situated between Xàbia and its neighbours Jesus Pobre and Dénia.
